John Travis Hill has been the Pastor of Temple Baptist Church since November 1, 2005. He was born on April 23, 1983, in Raleigh, NC. He was raised there under good Christian parents and carried him all his youth to Beacon Baptist Church, a good, Bible-believing church.
When he was 6 years old, God started convicting him that he was a sinner and headed straight to Hell. After talking with his father about being scared of going to Hell, his father at their home in Bro. John’s bedroom led him to Christ for salvation by grace through faith and was born-again into the family of God. A few years later at the age of 8, God starting dealing with him about being a preacher of the Word of God. He started preaching at 10 years old on the playgrounds at school, but didn’t fully surrender and answer the call to preach until December 30, 1995 in his bedroom at home.
He graduated from High School at Raleigh Christian Academy in 2001 and earned a Bachelors of Bible Studies in Pastoral Ministry from Crown College in Knoxville, TN in the fall of 2004. After Bible College, He was married on June 18, 2005, to Chloe Diona McClelland from Apex, NC. She is a good, godly, God-fearing, very supportive, and submissive wife to Bro. John and what God has called them to do. Bro. John and Sis. Chloe attended Middle Tennessee Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, TN under Pastor Tony Hutson until answering the call to pastor at TBC. They have two daughters named Olivia Grace, who was born in 2009; and Lillian Joy, who was born in 2011.
